Can I ask for assistance when visiting a Household Recycling Centre?

Yes. All reasonable requests for help are actioned. 

Please note, staff are unable to assist with items such as tonne bags (or excessively heavy items) as these are designed to be lifted mechanically and not manually.

Do I have to book a slot when visiting a Household Recycling Centre?

Herefordshire Household Recycling Centres require you to book a slot when visiting. These are Bromyard, Hereford (Rotherwas), Kington, Ledbury, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye
Worcestershire: Bromsgrove Recycling Centre requires bookings for visits on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

What is your CCTV policy?

Please note that Severn Waste Services utilise image recording equipment for the safety and protection of its staff, contractors, visitors and members of the public. This includes the use of CCTV on sites, vehicle mounted cameras and body cameras. All personal data collected is handled in line with applicable data protection law. Can I buy GreenGrow soil improver from your Household Recycling Centres?

Yes. It is available in 40 litre bags which weigh 25kg.

Cost is £2.50 per bag and we can only accept card payments (Increasing to £3 on 1st September 2025).

It is advisable to telephone the Household Recycling Centre you wish to purchase from prior to visiting. This is to ensure adequate stock is available as it is subject to high demand at particular times of the year.

Why do I have to take identification/Proof of Residence?

Our household recycling centres are for the use of residents of Herefordshire and Worcestershire only. Proof of residency is required to ensure only residents of Herefordshire and Worcestershire visit our recycling centres. Proof of residency is required at our Bromsgrove and Redditch Household Recycling Centres.


What counts as Proof of Residence?

Residents Permits are available from Bromsgrove Council and Redditch Councils. Details on how to apply are here:

A photocard driving licence can also be used as identification.

Which vehicles DO NOT NEED a permit to visit a Household Recycling Centre?

  • Cars with a trailer UNDER 1.3m internal length. Single-axle trailers only.
  • Camper vans if the vehicle manufactured as a camper van and is not a later conversion.  The V5 certificate will need to be presented on arrival.
  • Bicycles: At sites where bicycles are permitted.
  • Minibus – 7+ seaters with no loading space behind seats.
  • Disability vehicles with ramp access at rear of vehicle.

Which vehicles DO NEED an e-permit to visit a Household Recycling Centre?

  • All vans and commercial vehicles. This includes short and long wheel-base vans.
  • Any car used as a commercial vehicle such as an estate car with a company logo.
  • All pickups.  Both single-cab and double-cab pick-ups.
  • All camper vans converted from a standard van.
  • All vehicles with a trailer over 1.3m internal length.
  • Minibus – 7+ seaters with space behind rear seats to use for loading.
  • Any vehicles with seats removed to create extra space.

Which vehicles ARE NOT PERMITTED to visit a Household Recycling Centre?

  • Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes
  • All double-axle/multiple-axle trailers
  • Tipper vehicles

Do any sites have pedestrian access?

The following sites have pedestrian access, but visitors must use the bell to request access.

  • Bilford Road (Worcester East)
  • Kington
  • Ledbury
  • Malvern
  • Tenbury Wells
